A bailout package alone won't put Air India back on the tarmac

With reference to the editorial Rescue, revive and privatise (Our Take, April 14), the government is making a mistake by giving Air India another bailout package. At a time when even private airline carrier are going through a rough patch, the national carrier needs more than just bailout packages to get back into shape. It needs a well defined strategy, which includes expelling extra staff, cutting AI's expenses, getting back profitable routes and winning back people's confidence.
