Huge sums of money are being spent by corporates on buying players in the Indian Premier League (IPL). I am sure that when the Indian economy is facing a credit crunch and giving out pink slips, spending millions of rupees in acquiring players for the IPL does not make sense. One understand that running a sport and its tournament require money. But surely, there should be a limit to player compensation, given the hard times faced by companies in the country.
